Another school year just started. It seems to me that yesterday was still summer break. It was my second summer break at school. Last year, I had this responsibility to take care of summer day camp and I had it again this year. It is like baby sitting program where the high school students can work as the counselors. We had this program for about three months. We planned fun activities for the kids like flying kites, face painting, cooking, making craft, watching movie, computer program, and many more. Some parents sent their kids to summer day camp because they need to go to the language center to study Indonesian language, other parents were hoping that their kids can practice their English, etc.
It was a pretty busy time for me when I work at the school. I was glad when it was finally the last day for summer day camp. And on that last day, one of the parents gave bracelets to each counselor and also to me. Other parents were saying thank you too but somehow I feel that hers really touched my heart. And then one of the counselors gave me a bookmark that she made by herself during art time and she left a note saying thank you for the opportunity to work as one of the counselors. At that time I thought wow…from all of the parents only one came and say thank you, and from all the counselors just one came to say thank you too. That reminds me of a story I read for Sunday School one day. It was about someone who suffered leprosy and he needed to live separately from the others so that they would not get it too. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one there were nine more people who got the same illness. One day, Jesus came to their town and they were so happy because Jesus could heal them and that what happened next. When Jesus came, He healed them. And Jesus told them to go back to their village and spread the news. Everybody ran to their own homes but there was one guy who came back and said thank you to Jesus for healing him.
I want to be the one who came back and say thank you……. How about you??
Ephesians 5:20
“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

if you said so..
God's been really faithful to me by reminding me about His lessons through people around me including one of the kids in the classroom. We were having math lesson at that time and the kids were supposed to circle the picture that matched with the one on top of the paper. When i walked around to check the students' work. I stoppped at a student's desk and i saw that he circled the wrong shape. He was supposed to circle the square but he circled two triangles. I understood why did it that way though, he thought he needed to circle any shapes that were the same, but that was not what the direction said. I told him that he needed to circle the square and not the triangle. He looked at me and he just said "if you said so" and corrected his work. And then i checked the next excercise and again he circled the wrong shape. As i corrected his work again he just looked at me and he said "if you said so". And that i was like "wow this kid really trust me.
And as i looked at myself, sometimes when i made mistakes in my life and God corrected me, a lot of time i acted as a stubborn kid, many times i think that my way is right and afraid that God will not follow me or give what i want. Often i just forget that He is God and that He knows what is right and good for me.
I guess i just find it hard sometimes to just trust and obey Him and really need His help to have a faith like a little children who trust her father.
Matthew 18: 3-5
And He said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
Mark 10:13
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

knitting
I have been learning how to knit from a friend. She started knitting a scraf from yarn and as i looked at her i thought, i want to learn how to knit also. So, she showed me how to do it and she let me took it home so that i can practice some more at home.
I have been practicing to knit lately but i don't think i have been doing it in a good way because the scraf is getting wider...i started over again like millions times but still the scarf is getting wider and wider...
That kind of reminds me of my path as i live in this world. I tried to imitate Jesus, so follow His way but a lot of times i got off the track or didn't do the right things. Until right now i have been trying to stay on track until the race is finished. A challenge for you too i guess, can you make the scarf in the same width???
Psalm 18:32-33
"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer."
Habakkuk 3:19
"The soverign LORD is my strength; He makes me feet like the feet of a deer, he anables ne to go on the heights."
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

a Humble Christmas Tree

This year, after Christmas day, God reminded me about His lesson.
So, I got these verses about not to boast about myself but God alone. If it's about me then I should boast about my weaknesses....I concluded that from my bible reading for that evening, God wanted me to be humble.
I got a visit from my old friend. She is from Sulawesi and while she's here, she wanted to visit other old friends of hers. We went to mbak ayu and mas Joko's house. They live not far from SOlafide's place. When i was sitting at their living room, i saw a christmas tree standing at the corner of the room.As i looked at it, the top of the tree was kind of bending down. I was jokingly said to them, "wow you have a humble Christmas tree here...". The christmas tree was bending down because it is full of beautiful ornaments and lights. It was just so neat....
That christmas tree reminded me about the lesson from God the night before that I should be humble and boast about Him alone....We have this saying in Indonesia, that those who have mny qualities will be humble just like a good rice plant or just like a Christmas tree with many ornaments and lights....
I know it's a bit late but Merry Christmas everyone...
